🌸 You Deserve to Take up Space 🌸

One of the things I really struggled with throughout my life was being seen and taking up too much space.

In the beginning of high school I was a part of everything. I was a cheerleader (for one semester), in drama (I loved acting and being on stage), was a peer counselor (I loved helping others, still do), went to football games and basketball games, was involved in key club, etc.

And then I got a boyfriend in 10th grade and gave up everything (if you have a daughter, help them to not do this).

On top of that I got pregnant, and had my abortion, which really derailed me from my purpose and passions.

I no longer believed I was worthy of taking up space. I no longer believed I was worthy of anything good really, and my struggles with my self esteem and self worth consumed me.

You wouldn’t have known it on the outside. I was really good at masking my happiness. But inside, I was a churning with so many questions and negative emotions.

I journaled back then (still do) and part of me wishes I still had those journals so I could see how far I’ve come.

I never had a mentor back then. I had no idea that there were women’s circles, and places to go where women supported women and deep healing and expansion happened. In all honesty, I probably would have thought it was too “woo-woo” and wouldn’t have gone anyway.

So how did I finally get here?

I stepped in.

I got tired of feeling the way that I did and my desire for more and different was stronger than my desire to stay where I was.

So I slowly dipped my toe in and found the most amazing women, who happen to be all over the world, and found myself through all the work I did with them.

We’ve been conditioned to believe we’re less than as women. We’ve been conditioned to believe we shouldn’t take up space, that we should conform to societies standards and not be too loud, not be too sexy, not be emotional, etc.

Why?

Because when we’re truly in our power and take up the space we deserve, it makes people uncomfortable.

SO how to we (you) take up space.

By stepping in.

By healing.

By using your voice.

By setting healthy boundaries.

By releasing what’s not serving you (people and behaviors).

By taking care of yourself (body, mind, spirit).

By going after your dreams.

By letting go of society’s ideals.

By gathering with other women.

By feeling every damn emotion you feel, unapologetically.

By shining your light in this world.

By owning ALL of your story.

Whew, that just came pouring out of me….

I get so fired up for women. I want to see every woman on this planet take up space and shine their light.

So I have two questions for you today…

Where are you NOT taking up space and what’s keeping you from doing so?

What would your life look like if you truly took up the space you deserve?

So much to think about. I’d love to hear what’s coming up for you around this. Leave a comment below and let me know what’s coming up for you.

So much love.

Stay Wild,

Jennifer
