Embracing Winter: A Time for Reflection and Release

As we move into winter and the light of day grows shorter, I feel a deep tug at my soul—a call to slow down, reflect, and go within.

Winter holds such a sacred gift. It invites us to pause, to release, and to plant the seeds of what will bloom when the days grow longer again. There’s a wisdom in nature’s rhythms, reminding us that we can’t always be in a season of growth. Just as the earth needs time to rest, so do we.

I’ve decided to honor this call and take a pause in my work until the New Year. There’s a strong pull within me to release what no longer serves, to let go of the things that are standing in the way of my growth and expansion.

Release isn’t always easy. Sometimes, we hold onto things—relationships, habits, beliefs—simply because they’ve been with us for so long. Letting go can feel like losing a piece of ourselves. It can be uncomfortable, even painful. But I’ve learned that to move forward, we must first move through.

And moving through means feeling it all. Every ounce of grief, every thread of resistance, every pang of discomfort.

When we numb or suppress these feelings, we block ourselves from our truth. But when we allow ourselves to truly feel, we create space for healing, growth, and transformation.

Here are a few ways to move through and release what’s no longer serving you:

1. Journal It Out

Write a letter to the thing you’re ready to release—a habit, a fear, a person, or even a version of yourself. Thank it for the role it played in your life, and then gently release it. You might choose to burn the letter (safely) as a symbolic act of letting go.

2. Move Your Body

Emotions can get stuck in our bodies, so moving them through physical activity is powerful. Whether it’s a yoga flow, a walk in nature, or dancing in your living room, let your body guide you.

3. Create a Releasing Ritual

Light a candle, sit quietly, and reflect on what you’re letting go of. Imagine it leaving your body with each exhale. Feel the lightness and clarity as you release it.

4. Call in Support

Sometimes release feels too heavy to carry alone. Reach out to a trusted friend, coach, or therapist. Sharing your process can lighten the load and remind you that you’re not alone.

5. Embrace Rest

Give yourself permission to slow down. Rest is a gift we so often deny ourselves, but it’s essential for healing and preparing for what’s next.

Winter is our teacher, showing us that letting go is not the end but the beginning of something new. The barren trees, the quiet earth—they are not dead; they are resting, preparing for their next season of growth.

As we move through this sacred season, I encourage you to spend time in meditation, reflecting on a word for the New Year. What word will become the foundation for what you want to create in 2025? Maybe it’s peace, expansion, or trust. Let the word come to you as you sit quietly, inviting your intuition to guide you. This word can serve as a touchstone, helping you align with your vision and intentions as the year unfolds.

I’m also feeling the call to bring women together for a release ceremony in December. While the details aren’t set yet, I’m dreaming of a gathering to hold space for reflection, connection, and release as we prepare to step into the New Year. If this resonates with you, stay tuned—I’ll share more soon.

Let’s honor this sacred time of reflection and release together. When we create space by letting go, we open ourselves to infinite possibilities for the future.

I can’t wait to step into the New Year with you, lighter and more aligned than ever.

Stay Wild,

Jennifer
